Golden morning visitor

The garden visitor is a male Cape Weaver (Ploceus capensis), easily recognised by its golden-yellow plumage, rich olive tones, sturdy dark bill and striking red eye during the breeding season. Common throughout the Western Cape, these energetic birds are skilled architects, weaving intricate hanging nests from strips of grass to attract a mate.
