A Future Worth Protecting

As a guide, I had seen this wild white rhino many times and suspected the birth was not far away. Still, nothing prepared me for rounding a bend and finding her at that exact moment.

We switched off the engine immediately and sat in silence. There was nothing to say. Just a mother bringing new life into the world while her other calf stood nearby. A few moments later, a new rhino entered the bush.

Over the months that followed, I watched that calf grow, play, and thrive. In a species facing so many challenges, witnessing the beginning of a life and then seeing it flourish remains one of the greatest privileges in the wild.
